Abstract

This paper outlines the scope of the end of life evaluation process on power transformers adopted by SP Energy Networks (SPEN) and the different stages it comprises. Based on the evidence gathered over an eight year period of undertaking this activity, this paper also discusses and provides examples of its relevance and usefulness in the areas of reliability and suitability analysis of condition assessment indicators, identification of common or recurrent issues on transformers of the same vintage or family and optimisation of asset management decision tools.
