Abstract
Microgrids are evolving into an integral component ofthe power delivery system of the 21st century. Theavailability of standards will greatly simplify theimplementation of microgrids and lower the cost ofequipment, controllers and communicationinfrastructure. However, existing standards do not fullycover the specific needs of microgrids and thereforeadditional standards should be introduced. Based on thefindings of IEC SEG6, the gaps in the existing standardsare summarised in this paper and collaborationbetween various standardization groups has beenestablished.
