Abstract

SP Energy Networks (SPEN), part of the Iberdrola Group, is a distribution network operator (DNO), responsible for 132kV-230V distribution network assets in Great Britain (GB). This paper sets out the system operation challenges that GB DNOs face as GB transitions to a low carbon future, and our vision of the key ways in which DNOs will need to evolve into DSOs in order to meet these challenges.
