dc.description.abstractThe subject addressed is the investigation of the coordination of flexibility on distribution grid level to reduce grid expansion measures together with the examination of interdependencies between different technologies providing flexibility. More specifically, this paper describes the setup and methods used by a coordinating entity, the so-called System-Cockpit (SC). The SC is the central element of the research project “Designetz” connecting different types of flexible pilot projects via ICT connection. In the SC, the interaction of the various pilot projects at local and superregional level is investigated. To examine the contribution of a coordinated activation of flexibilities in an environment with a high share of decentralized energy resources, the pilot projects are integrated into a simulation of a multi-voltage level distribution network, which represents low-, medium- and high voltage levels of a German distribution grid in the year 2035. Both decentralized energy resources (e.g. renewable energies, storages, electric vehicles) and grid assets (e.g. lines, transformers, nodes) are modelled as agents. The pilot projects are sited at nodes of the simulated network. Consequently, the generation or consumption of these pilot projects is affecting the load flow and the utilization of grid assets in the simulation. On this matter, both forecasted schedules of electricity generation or consumption and the corresponding available flexibility potential of the pilot projects are provided to the SC. Using online weather forecast from the ICT data platform the generation and consumption of the decentralized energy resources is determined as 15min average for a six hours interval.
