dc.description.abstractOne of the most critical aspects of the operation of islanded microgrids is the small-signal stability. This work gives a concise literature review of inverter controller optimization with respect to stability and power sharing in microgrids. Then controller parameters are optimized for an existing rural low voltage grid with several battery storage systems utilizing a genetic algorithm. The new feature is that not only controller parameters are optimized, but also the choice of the controller type, such as grid-forming and grid-supporting droop control. The results underline that using different inverter controller types in one microgrid improves the stability and power sharing.
