    Abstract
The final paper will show the description and the field-results of the deployment in the e-distribuzione network of the smart fault selection. The smart fault selection is an automation performed by the protection devices installed along the secondary substation of an electrical network. The scope of the automation is to reduce the number of the customers affected by the outage and the duration of the outage.e-distribuzione has deployed this automation in 8000 secondary substation in the distribution network of Italy. The fault test performed on the real network, point out that all the automation steps: selection, insulation, restoration of the power supply, are performed in less than 1 second.
